From Anglo-Norman phisenomie, Middle French phisonomie et al., and
their source, Late Latin physiognomia, from Ancient Greek φυσιογνωμονία
(“the science or art of judging a man by his features”), from φύσις
(“physique, appearance”) + γνώμων (“one that knows or examines, an
interpreter, discerner”).
